The current and default engine that I''ve been using is WS9WineCX13.2.0.

Tried only a couple engines, both made it worse. Especially in the late game, when there is tons of stuff on the map. This is becoming a problem for me now too.

So it has to do with (graphic?) memory, map size, objects on the map and graphic settings have an impact on the time before it runs out of memory. (I find it hilarious that the game actually notifies you when you have been playing for two hours) However, in the elector scenario that I''m currently playing it has not crashed a single time for me, even when playing 2 hours straight. I also toned down particles to medium, and turned off aniso completely. Funnily enough, the game still looks great and barely any different at all on medium textures. Lowering texture quality from high to medium seemed to have the biggest impact on this time increase. Then I lowered the graphics bit by bit and that seemed to increase the time before a crash to 1hr-2hrs depending on the mission. When I was playing the campaign, it crashed after half an hour at first. The result plays something like Team Fortress 2 with a looser sense of teamwork.For me, Anno 1404 also crashes after a certain amount of time. It takes a familiar western theme with built-in dangers and thrills - relaying a giant pouch of precious metal like a rugby ball, quick-rolling through dust to dodge buckshot while 19th-century sniper rifles (with their mounted telescopes) try to bring you to justice - and fuses it to objective-focused game modes (there’s no deathmatch). In moments like this, Lead and Gold is pure, unadulterated frontier bliss. Our gold is in danger, and half my team is bleeding out in the hot Arizona dust. Farther up the trail, our Deputy is yelling for help - he’s got his foot caught in a bear trap and can’t move. I turn the corner and a Gunslinger is there palm-slapping the hammer on his six-shooter. Bullets are whizzing by us left and right. I turn around my grizzled Blaster, the most bearded of Lead and Gold’s four character classes, and toss a stick of dynamite to cover our escape.

I toss the purse forward, letting it tumble at my teammate’s feet while my shotgun is automatically re-equipped. It’s heavy - in 1850s money, maybe $500 worth - and my foot speed is twice as slow when I’m holding the bag.
